Eddie Ifft Headlines Vail Comedy Show This Week

Vail Comedy Show is back on Wednesday in Eagle at Moe's Original BBQ and on Thursday in Vail Village at Gambit in The Sebastian. Los Angeles comedian Eddie Ifft from Showtime and NBC is back for a third consecutive year to headline. Ifft was kind enough to fill out a questionnaire before making his return to the valley.

You've been performing in Vail for several years now, why do you keep coming back?

Because they pay me in lots, and lots of free hot dogs. No not that, I'm a fan of ski towns because I look like every ski lift operator, and I feel like the locals can relate to me.

Do you have a favorite Colorado comedy memory?

When I lived in Vail, I used to go out in a gorilla suit every night because I found it was easy to talk to women in a gorilla suit and they always wanted to have their picture taken with me. So if you remember a guy about 20 years ago who used to run around Vail Village in a gorilla suit, that was me.

Tell us about your podcast.

I have one podcast where I bring on the best comedians in the world, and we've been doing it a long time and we say everything you shouldn't say. I have a health fitness podcast too called "The Wodcast" and I have a lot of famous action sports athletes like Jonny Mosely and John Collinson, who's a Red Bull skier.  I like to talk about my hobbies, which are skiing, surfing and mountain biking.

Is it true you're an endurance runner now?

Yeah, I'm an idiot. I ran a 68-mile race so I could tell people about it. I'm attempting to run the Leadville 100 this year if they let us in. We're trying to get into the charity division. It's closed but we're threatening to raise tons and tons of money if they'll let me sacrifice my life.

What do you know about Vail Comedy Show?

The Vail Comedy Show is the best comedy show in Vail.

Any major events coming up?

I have a 2024 tour planned. I'll be on the road almost every weekend because my wife likes to live like a divorced couple where the kids see me during the weekdays and not on the weekend. I'm away almost every single weekend, but I take my kids with me a lot because I'm a glutton for punishment. Last year I brought them to Vail and we had a great time, they still talk about Little Diner. I wrote a movie called "The Second Coming," and I'd like to live long enough to see that come out but the Leadville 100 might have other plans.

You live in Los Angeles but tour nationally, how does Colorado compare to other markets?

Colorado is a great audience except for all the marijuana. A lot of people do edibles so they laugh but no sound comes out.

How would you describe your comedy?

Somebody once said of me, "he's transgressive and subversive which are two things he probably needs to look up."

What is next for Eddie Ifft?

I'm in Montana in Bozeman and Livingston and hope to get in and get out without getting snowed in. We were just flooded in, here in Malibu. I'm excited about Colorado where I'll be doing shows with Mark Masters in Denver, Eagle, Vail, Breckenridge and Castle Rock.

Vail Comedy Show is back in March with Carmen Lynch from New York City. Lynch has appeared on "The Tonight Show," "The Late Show," "The Late Late Show," "CONAN," and Comedy Central. Lynch will be doing a special Spanish language show in Vail Village during Semana Santa. English language shows are in Eagle on March 27 and in Vail on March 28. Her show en español will also be on March 28 at Gambit at The Sebastian Hotel.

Tickets for all shows are available at VailComedyShow.Com.

Eddie's exciting venture as presenter of BBC Radio 1Xtra's Comedy Gala with Eddie Kadi and Friends will see him host alongside former I'm A Celeb star Babatunde Aléshé.

The South-West London resident enthusiastically told us: "We do have an amazing show coming up with Radio 1Xtra at the Hackney Empire, where we're celebrating the Black community. But also the future generation.

"The BBC 1Xtra event will showcase a plethora of new voices in the Black comedy circuit in Britain."

Adding to the line-up of the Comedy Gala will be a plethora of rising stars, including comedians Thanyia Moore, Kane Brown, Gbemi Oladipo, Kyrah Gray, Michael Odewale, Ola Labib and Slim.

Congo born Eddie also spoke on a more recent project he held a deep connection to, Channel 4's travel show My Super-Rich Holiday, which aired last October.

Eddie added at the awards held in Sheffield: "I shot a fantastic episode of a show called My Super-Rich Holiday on Channel 4, which basically showcases the continent [Africa] in the most splendid way. We did that in Ghana."
