'I'm Back In': Biden Jokes About Returning To Presidential Race

Is President Joe Biden returning to the presidential race after withdrawing over the summer? The answer may clearly be no after Vice President Kamala Harris was nominated by the Democratic Party and is now at the top of the ticket, but the Commander-in-Chief didn't hesitate to crack a joke about a possible return on Friday.

When the president made his first appearance at the podium in the White House briefing room Friday, one reporter wanted to know if the president might be rethinking his decision.

"Do you want to reconsider dropping out of the race?" the reporter asked the president.

The president responded, "I'm back in!" before a big grin appeared on his face as he waved and walked out of the briefing room.

Biden dropped out of the presidential race and a chance at a second term in July amid pressure from members of the Democratic party and following a disastrous debate against former President Donald Trump. Biden endorsed Harris when he withdrew from the race.

Friday Funny: Squirrelly Passenger Causes UK Train Cancellation

When the announcer said "all aboard" on the 8:54 a.M. Service from Reading in southern England to Gatwick Airport last week, a wider range of local residents than likely intended took them at their word. "While pets such as dogs often take trains in Britain, rodents are a less frequent passenger," a Reuters article said of the incident.

"We can confirm that the 0854 Reading to Gatwick was terminated at Redhill after a couple of squirrels boarded the train at Gomshall without tickets, breaching railway byeclaws," a spokesperson for the railway told Reuters. Railway staff was able to remove one of the "furry freeloaders" from the train at Redhill, but one refused to leave, forcing them to cancel the service and return the train to Reading, which was the second squirrel's final destination.

Sandra Bullock Says Friend Maggie Smith's 'Wicked Sense Of Humor' And Advice 'Made My Life Sweeter' (Exclusive)

Sandra Bullock is paying tribute to the late Maggie Smith.

Hours after Smith's sons Toby Stephens and Chris Larkin confirmed news of the star's death at 89 on Friday, Sept. 27, Bullock, who worked with the late actress on 2002's Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood, tells PEOPLE, "How lucky am I to have sat in quiet corners with Maggie and a glass of wine."

"Her stories, her wicked sense of humor and her gentle advice are all things that have made my life sweeter," Bullock, 60, adds.

The pair costarred with Ellen Burstyn, Ashley Judd and James Garner among an ensemble cast in Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood, based on author Rebecca Wells' 1996 novel of the same name. The movie follows Bullock's character Siddalee "Sidda" Walker as she revisits her childhood in Louisiana and reconnects with her mother Vivi (Burstyn) and Vivi's childhood friends after they kidnap her.

"Maggie Smith was truly a great actress," Burstyn told PEOPLE exclusively. "There aren't many of us that could be said about and when one of us goes, it is a tragedy all around. Her genius will be greatly missed."

Smith portrayed the character Caroline "Caro" Bennett in the film; Katy Sleverstone and Mary Katherine Weiss portray younger versions of the character in the film as well.

The Harry Potter star's children announced her death via publicist Clair Dobbs on Sept. 27. "She passed away peacefully in hospital early this morning, Friday 27th September," the pair said of Smith in a statement. "An intensely private person, she was with friends and family at the end. She leaves two sons and five loving grandchildren who are devastated by the loss of their extraordinary mother and grandmother."
