Katherine Ryan Speaks Out After Undergoing Cancer Surgery

Katherine Ryan, Canadian comedian and writer who is known for her sharp wit and humor, has shared an update with her fans from her hospital bed after undergoing cancer surgery.

The 40-year-old star, took to social media to reassure everyone that she is "on the mend" and feeling positive now after the surgery.

Taking to her Instagram account, Katherine shared the news with her followers about her condition, writing: "This is going so well by the way and should heal flat."

She shared the message alongside a photo of her swollen arm hooked up to a drip.

Katherine first grew concerned back in 2022 after noticing changes in a mole. However, she pushed for more tests, believing it could have been missed if she hadn't spoken up.

Katherine Ryan was first diagnosed with melanoma at 21, making this her second battle with the disease.

Katherine Ryan Undergoes Surgery As She Shares Update After Skin Cancer Diagnosis

Comedian Katherine Ryan has shared a health update on Monday after she underwent another surgery. The latest operation was the star's second time in a week following her recent cancer diagnosis.

The 41-year-old comic revealed her health situation last week after a cancerous mole was discovered on her arm. It comes after she had another melanoma when she was younger. Katherine has now taken to her social media to share an update. On her Instagram Story, she uploaded an image of her arm covered with a plaster. She captioned the image: "Done," with a tick and a red love heart emoji.

Katherine has had stage two melanoma in the past, meaning she was able to recognise the signs in a mole way back in 2022. However, it took a long journey until she was able to have the mole removed and tested.

She initially shared the news on her podcast Telling Everybody. Speaking to her listeners, she revealed she had noticed a mole on her arm and decided to get it checked by a medical professional. At the time, they told her nothing was wrong, but the star admitted she was still "really worried" and felt that something was off.

Speaking of her decision to not just accept the initial opinion, she went on: "The mole kept changing, I know a lot about melanoma, I had stage two melanoma as a very young woman - aged 21 - on my leg, I've spoken about that before."

She later added: "But even when he looked at it, he was like, 'it's not melanoma, it's totally fine, I will do a shave and send it away for testing.'"

Not long after the doctor reassured Katherine once more that it was definitely nothing she was then called back with the confirmation that it was melanoma.

She explained that she went private for the procedure but insisted she wasn't trying to insult the NHS in any way. She shared that alongside paying one clinic £300 for a "seven-minute" consultation: "The only reason that they agreed to remove it was because I went to a fancy, private place in South Kensington, and I paid them a grand."

The star initially shared that she had skin cancer on Friday, and by Sunday she was out and about again. The comedian arrived at The Grand Theatre completely makeup-free and was seemingly in high spirits.

She was seen smiling as she waved at those outside. Katherine is currently on her Battleaxe tour across the UK.

She didn't let fans down this week as she smiled and waved while heading into one of her shows just two days after announcing her skin cancer diagnosis.

Katherine Ryan Blasts Tommy Fury And Dave Grohl In First Comedy Set Since Cancer Diagnosis

08:55, 26 Mar 2025Updated 09:33, 26 Mar 2025

Katherine Ryan tore into celebrity cheats as she returned to the stage for her first comedy set since revealing her cancer diagnosis. The comedienne joined a star-studded line-up at The Royal Albert Hall for the Teenage Cancer Trust.

This week a host of huge names from The Who to The Corrs will take to the stage in support of the charity. Katherine joined the likes of Romesh Ranganathan, Zoe Lyons, Josh Widdicombe and host Micky Flanagan for A Night of Comedy on Tuesday.

"Celebrity men have antagonised me lately," fumed Katherine at the start of her set. "How is Dave Grohl having a secret baby when he looks like he sleeps in his car? He looks like a pirate with gout."

The outspoken star blasted the Foo Fighters frontman who revealed he had fathered a child with a woman outside of his 22 year marriage to wife Jordyn Blum. "The standard needs to be higher ladies you don't need to f**k him just because he plays an instrument," said Katherine.

The Canadian born star then took a swing at Love Island's Tommy Fury, who denied cheating on fiancee Molly-Mae when they split up last year. "I felt personally offended when Molly-Mae and Tommy Fury broke up," she scathed. "I feel it was his fault, I know it was his fault.

"I was irrationally cross with my husband for three weeks when that happened," she added. Before branding Tommy a 'walking airbag.'

"We were on a quiz show together for charity and he was asked to name a country beginning with the letter H. He said, 'Hamsterdam'. And he didn't immediately know it was wrong," she quipped.

Katherine told the crowd that now she's over 40 a lot of her friends are going through divorces, "I believe men are one stupid mistake away from imploding their whole life," she scathed.

It comes after Katherine took a swipe at McFly's Danny Jones for 'forgetting his family' when he kissed Maura Higgins at the BRIT Awards this month. "They leave the house for three minutes to get milk and forget they have a whole family! They do that!" she fumed.

Katherine's storming set comes just days after she revealed she has been diagnosed with cancer for a second time after she felt suspicious of a mole on her arm.

The 41-year-old said she initially had her suspicions of melanoma given the all-clear by a doctor who had worked in the NHS, before going on to a private clinic, which also dismissed her claims, before a test revealed the mole was cancerous. Katherine was previously diagnosed with stage two melanoma in her 20s, after finding an irregular mole on her leg, which was removed.

"The mole kept changing, and I know a lot about melanoma. I just felt like this mole wasn't right, it's on my arm, I showed pictures of it on my social media. I went in and I wanted the doctor to remove a bigger piece of it and stitch it up in a straight line, but even when he looked at it, he was like, 'not melanoma, totally fine, I will do the shave and send it away for histology, and then if it comes back with anything, if there's any borders that we missed, then we'll do the deeper cut'."

Katherine said the doctor called her and said she had early melanoma. The star later confirmed she had the mole removed in a post on TikTok, in which she showed pictures of it and urged others to get their moles checked.

Last night Katherine joined the huge names supporting the Teenage Cancer Trust with a string of special concerts at the Royal Albert Hall. This year's series runs from March 24-30, including The Who; The Corrs; James Arthur; a night of comedy hosted by Micky Flanagan; a special night by Erased Tapes featuring Penguin Cafe; and Frank Carter and Paul Cook, Steve Jones, Glen Matlock of the Sex Pistols.

To mark the 25th anniversary of Teenage Cancer Trust at the Royal Albert Hall, the British artist and Gorillaz co-creator, Jamie Hewlett - a long-time supporter of Teenage Cancer Trust - has re-designed his iconic Teenage Cancer Trust logo for 2025.

Comedian Romesh Ranganathan will also run the London Marathon for the charity next month.
