We all had those teachers in high school or college with a special sense of humor.

You know, the kind of teachers who would throw fake cockroaches at you if you had food out, or make you sit next to the class pet snake if you were acting out.

Well, this professor might be rethinking his rule about cell phones.

Some students at Aquinas College decided to have fun with the rule that all cell phone calls must be answered on speaker phone by setting up a very personal (and very fake) conversation. Their teacher totally bought it.

His reaction is even more entertaining than the prank itself. You have to love a teacher who can laugh at himself.

Watch the hilarity play out below:

Miss out on April Fools' this year? It's not too late to read about some of the Internet's funniest pranks of 2014.

Teacher Gives Fake 'spelling Test' As April Fools' Prank

This 4th grade teacher got one over on his elementary students with a fake spelling test.

ROYAL OAK, Michigan -- April Fools' Day is a day to play practical jokes on your friends and loved ones.

Since April 1 falls on a Saturday this year, one fourth-grade teacher decided to prank his students a few days early during the school week.

An elementary school teacher in Michigan announced a pop "spelling test" Wednesday afternoon.

Joey Dombrowski included fake words "blorskee", "tangeteen" and "speeku" complete with some silent letters in the end.

Here's the complete April Fools' Day spelling test: Blorskee: "I lost my blorskee at a carnival." Tangateen: "I eat my spaghetti with a tangateen." Speekuzslmn: "Look, there's a speekuzslmn." Wazamata: "Students said they were sick, I said, 'Wazamata with you?'" Slipert: "Be careful when you're sleeping, there might be a slipert in your house." Chchch: "The horse was angry so I said chchch." Rol-aska-tox: "Rol-aska-tox was surprised when jinx took the crown." Speenuch: "My favourite food is speenuch and artichoke dip." Shabolaskp: "Be careful that you do not catch shabolaskp." GÜRRR: "My friend told me a secret and I said GÜRRR."

The students were dumbfounded until they realized it was all a big joke.

It May Be April Fools' Day, But These 8 'pranks' Just Aren't Funny

A much-anticipated day for jokesters and pranksters has arrived: Tuesday is April Fools' Day!

With the origins of the holiday tracing back to 1582, humorous tricks and pranks have been entertaining the world for centuries. Whether you've been strategizing for a while or come up with something on-the-spot, most April Fools jokes bring smiles and laughter all around.

However, there are always pranks that be taken a bit too far. While there's little harm in some lighthearted humor, crossing someone's boundaries — whether intentional or not — can sour the mood for everyone.

Make sure you don't get too carried away with your scheming. Here are eight pranks to avoid on April Fools' Day 2025, and every other day on the calendar.

No. 1: Faking an emergency with 9-1-1

This one may seem painfully obvious and redundant, but it's always worth repeating: faking an emergency of any kind is not funny! There's so much that could go wrong that may create real emergencies. Misidentification of a crime suspect can result in injury or, in extreme cases, death. Gathering emergency personnel under false pretenses can hinder their ability to respond to actual emergencies. And if those reasons weren't enough, a prank caller can be sued or face jail time. So before you dial, take a moment to think: Is this worth it?

No. 2: 'I'm pregnant'

Pregnancy is a significant life event tied to many emotions that differ from person to person. Telling people that you or your partner are pregnant is likely to elicit a strong emotional response, causing emotional strain for nothing. It is also important to consider those who are struggling or unable to get pregnant.

No. 3: 'I'm engaged'

Similar to the pregnancy "prank," lying about an engagement is likely to stir up high emotions. It may also put your partner in an uncomfortable position and can even lead them to reconsider a future proposal.

No. 4: 'I'm sick' or 'I'm dying'

Disclosing a serious illness or injury can cause confusion, stress and panic among your loved ones. A joke should never cross these lines or inflict psychological harm. Lying about something this devastating may also be very insensitive to those actually facing serious or fatal diagnoses.

No. 5: 'I'm cheating'

Again, a prank should not put your partner in such an uncomfortable situation that they feel they cannot trust you. Telling them that you are cheating or having an affair can backfire if they feel pressured into disclosing they have cheated, too. It's a lose-lose scenario.

No. 6: Interfering with someone's job

Many people are employed in positions that rely on their professional behavior. This includes their reputation, integrity and appropriate communication with others. Don't jeopardize all of the hard work they've put in just to get a good laugh.

No. 7: 'We broke up'

Similar to joking about cheating, telling others that you and your partner are no longer in a relationship can lead to their own disclosures. In an effort to be supportive, your friends and family may respond by sharing negative opinions they hold about your partner. This can wreak havoc on a relationship, no matter how healthy it is.

No. 8: Exploiting someone's fears

Among the most common pranks are those that exploit people's fears. This can be a grey area, as some can be shrugged off and laughed about while others can deepen existing fears. A good rule of thumb? Don't do anything that may have long-term consequences for the recipient, such as trouble sleeping, an inability to reestablish trust, and lingering paranoia.
